Black and Red Juneteenth Independence Day (US) (Flyer) (Facebook Cover) (Banner (Landscape

Curated by Rev. David W. Brown & First Church Media

On May 19th, which is also the birthday of civil rights activist Malcolm X, we started something called the Juneteenth Challenge which encourages individuals to do something each day for 30 days to support the Black community every day leading up to Juneteenth, June 19th.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Deriving its name from combining "June" and "nineteenth", it is celebrated on the anniversary of the federal order on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved persons in Texas despite having the Emancipation Proclamation issued freeing enslaved persons two years earlier in 1863. We invite you to join us by supporting these organizations, share this list, add to it or create and share your own.
